The Gran Turismo series is like a good director. They take their time with releasing something. Teasing and releasing little snippets to the public every so often. Talking about this and that and how they're gonna show off their tech and then finally when they get a full release it is a beautiful and glorious masterpiece. On January 17th the masterpiece of racing will be unleashed on the world.
Gran Turismo 5 XL is coming and Brian Dunn went on Sony's Playstation blog yesterday to unveil the game. The updated version of the game had been rumoured for some time but no one involved with the project was willing to let loose any details about an "official" release. Dunn wrote on the blog the full contents of the $40 game:
GT5XL Edition will contain:
The original game with over 1000 cars, 20+ locations and 70+ track layouts, diverse racing styles including rally track, karting, NASCAR and more, deep online community features and online racing, plus Gran Turismo TV, Course Maker and more.
Some online commenters are discussing however, that some people are wondering if they need to install or download any updates. The most recent Spec 2.0 update took several hours to download (in Australia, anyway) and will be a bandwidth eyesore for Sony and fans of the series if they're downloading more than a gig on release day.
